Functional safety according to ISO 26262

Infotiv was commissioned by a manufacturer of passenger cars to support the development of functional safety for the upcoming hybrid car platform, which will follow ISO 26262. The focus of the assignment was on the high voltage side, which consists of the electric motor, battery, charger and inverter.

ISO 26262 is a functional safety standard that can be used to measure the safety of a car during its life cycle. It is applicable to automation electronics and all electrical safety-related systems. The standard was released in 2011 where Infotiv, together with many major companies in the automotive industry such as Volvo Cars, BMW, Toyota, Ford, Delphi and Continental, were involved in the development process.
