Code review for software in platforms
Infotiv was commissioned by a player in the heavy vehicle industry, to review the core software in two platform projects for developing the client’s haulers. The actual code was to be used in haulers with production starting in 2014. The review was carried out on hand-coded C routines that had been developed in-house by the client.
The review of the code focused on code quality and safety aspects. Infotiv’s team carried out both static and dynamic analyses of the code and used both coding rules and safety standards, including ISO 26262 and IEC 61508, in the analysis.
The work led to recommendations for both the specific changes in the code and process-related measures for improving the quality of both current and future software packages.
